Field Inspector/Engineer
Position Responsibilities
- Observe, measure and document work performed by construction contractors
- Prepare Inspector Daily Report (IDR) and maintain project diaries based on observation and measurement of work performed daily by construction contractor
- Perform field tests on concrete and HMA according to prescribed test procedures, processes, and standards
- Enter data and use software applications
- Confer with Project Manager to discuss materials tests, alignment, and other aspects of construction work to determine next steps.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in construction inspection, any prior experience bridge and/or roadway construction inspection is preferred
- Prior IDOT and/or municipal experience is a plus
- IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification
- Must have valid driver’s license and immediate ability to work in the United States
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as required

Laboratory Technician
Position Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Occasional statewide travel
- Physically able to routinely lift 75 lbs. and occasionally lift 100 lbs.
- Steel toed boots
- Safety shoes for employees shall be a 6-inch or higher work shoe of sturdy construction and shall meet the requirements and specifications for ANSI Class 75 footwear or current ASTM Standard. Casual style footwear, such as canvas, sport, slip-on, tennis shoes and loafers, even though constructed with steel (or equivalent composite toe that meets the ANSI 75 Class or current ASTM Standards), are not acceptable.
- Working knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access)
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician -Grade I certification (or may obtain shortly after hire)
Position Desirables
- Mechanical aptitude
- Working knowledge of math including geometry
- Working knowledge of materials testing and laboratory testing equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions
